Help choosing unlocked phone plzzz

Hi,
I have service through former ATT and do not want to switch plans to Cingular so my only option, I believe is to buy an unlocked phone as my old Siemens C56 is near dead.
I did some search and found out that ebay is a good resource for unlocked phones. Also, most people tend to recommend Motorola or Nokia as opposed to other manufacturers. I would like a camera phone but dont want anything very expensive.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good Nokia or Motorola models which are good for cingular. I don't have any preferences regarding style/type like flip or slider, etc. but I don't have the budget to go above $100-$120 maybe, what could be my choices. Is there a camera phone possible in this range? I'm ok with a dual or tri band since I'll be using it mostly in North America. Also, would it be a wise choice to get a locked phone from say ebay and then either get it unlocked or do it myself through the guides/howtos available on the net?
Thanks in advance

Thanks a2kt1c, motorola v635 definitely looks like a great phone. The only thing is that it seems to be a bit out of my price range. The lowest I could find was on ebay for around $170 with shipping. This one is a quad band, is it possible to get something nice cheaper maybe not a quad band since I dont travel outside of north america too often.
Also any Nokia recommendations?

thanks again

I like the panasonic vs2. very basic phone, easy to use, nice 1.3 mp camera, really nice 240x320 px screen. you should find one on ebay for around 150 dollars and you have a unique phone, not like a motorola or nokia which everyone else has these days.

Well, in fact its only in North America that you actually want quad-band, the rest of the world is fine with tri-band phones. In North America its much better to have GSM 850 included on your phone, since if you don't, you are missing one entire band. North American is actually one of the few areas that use GSM 850, so that puts a limit on what you can get.

Well thats only if you using Cingular (in the US) or ROGERS & Fido (in Canada). If you use Tmobile in the US it doesn't really matter if you have the 850 or not...

Actually, no, it does matter. T-Mobile has just signed roaming agreements with Cingular, so T-Mobile network, which was previously sucky, now has a much larger range if you decide to travel. In those cases you will need GSM 850...since 1900 is just too limited. Its the same for Fido, anyone notice how neither Fido nor T-Mobile release non GSM 850 phones anymore? The days of 1900 only phones are long gone, at least, if you want a useful phone they are gone.
