HELP! Can't hear other people with Headset!!!?

I'm using a Datel Gaming Headset for PS3 which didn't work for the PS3 but does work for Windows Live Messenger my friend can hear me loud and clear but I can't hear them very good is like I can't hear him at all. He called my cellphone and told me he could hear me loud and clear!!!

ANY HELP???

Check your master volume in the bottom right of your screen make sure that everything is put to a proper level. Check if your connection is in properly.
