Hi. I am up to my neck with my Mother-in-law. She has ALWAYS been a mean....person with me, but lately, her hatred of me has reached a new level. She is going around telling everyone she knows ( all the people I know from my Husbands side of the family) all kinds of lies about me. First she was saying that I was poisoning the coffee she drinks, but now she is saying that my Mother and I are concocting a plan to also poison my husband. She doesn't just say that she suspects, she is ASSURING then, that I am doing this. Now what I want to know, is if I can sue her, on the basis of defamation of character, or anything else. I've just had enough of these lies, and I want to show her that it isn't funny to be making these very serious and horrible accusations about people.
Can I prove it by asking the family members to testify?
My husband doesn't need reassurance that I'm not trying to poison him, he knows she's out her mind. But I'm just so sick of her lies.
And killing her with kindness won't help, I've been doing it for over 5 years now.
Without her, I would have my husband, because he is thankfully adopted
There IS no other family. It's only him and her.
My husband's side WOULD side with me, because they DO hate her. And my husband would too, because she has also made up a whole bunch of stuff about him too.
