HELP! Can i paint cork board? and how?

Im redoing my room, and i saw this cool scrabble like wall decorations. It was in my August issue of seventeen magazine. It said it used cork bord, but it was colored. I was wondering if anyone knew if i can paint cork, and what kind of paint i would use. also if you knew where i could find it that would be great!
I dont plan on useing it as cork board, but as decoration.
