Hi. I am starting to get interested in electronics (just started reading some beginner books) but in the meantime I need to get a soldering iron because my electric shaver's rechargeable battery is gone and it's too expensive to buy a new shaver (it's a BRAUN shaver) but I found the rechargeable cell for about $10. However I need to take apart the shaver and solder the cell on. I need help choosing a soldering iron for this task, which can also work for my electronics hobby later. I am totally confused and some irons are hundreds of dollars! I found Weller and Edsyn but totally confused. Please help thanks! (I am OK to spend say, $40 or maybe even $60 on the iron, if it's gonna last me "forever" for my projects).
Oh, I need help with the SOLDER as well. What kind do I need to buy? I haven't read all the books yet so I need you guys to help me jumpstart this and repair the shaver, and then I will continue learning via those electronics books. Many thanks. I am good with device repairs (I repaired two iPhones already to replace exhausted batteries, but no soldering required there).
