Okay I read a few years back this fiction story.
The plot goes:
A young girl (I believe she was either a child star or her parents were rich) was kidnapped and kept for ransom.
So the kidnapper cuts her finger off while still holding her.
But a lady that is with the kidnapper helps her escape.
And as the girl grows up, she changes her name and becomes a writer.
And I think the setting is in Louisiana.
But PLEASE HELP!
