THIS is very simple to fix, if its not a hardware problem.... take out the battery from the bold (this is got nothing to do with your battery), load up desktop manager and click on aplication updates or whatever you use to update your device (not poping into my mind at the moment), it will come up with a connecting screen trying to detect the phone and you quickly plug the device with a usb cable... the screen should say PIN: UNKOWN and you click okay and sellect the prefered firmware and update the device, as its updating plug the battery back in and vollah.

M8, as others have said, just connect phone to PC without battery or with full battery. When you connect without battery you should hear the 'ding' for connection on ur pc and the red light on the phone should blink. Or when you connect with 'full' battery you should hear the 'ding' for connection.
If you don not hear the ding in neither of these senarios, then you have a hardware problem with your charging port or you may have a driver problem.
Easy way to tell if you have driver problem is just connect another bb. If it connects and installs fine then u hard charging port problem with the other bb.

If you indeed hear the 'ding'. just do as [onderutku] said and run the app loader and connect without battery, select the firmware, then replace battery when 'erasing' starts.
 
this happend to me the phones battery has gone blackberry batterys arnt ver good honestly if this is the problem go to a shop that sell phones only phones an they will find the problem .
