I just dropped my car off for service and I think the bill is going to be pretty hefty. It's a 2002 with 116k miles. Kelly BB tells me I can get about $3500 trade-in and $6000 private sale.
The sales guy (who's of course trying to make a commission) told me if the cost of repair is too high when they call me later today around 4pm to decline any work needed and to trade it in. He could get me into a lease for around $300 on a new CR-V that I want.
How should I bargain with him? What's the lowest I can go? I got hosed last time I bought a car by myself.

It went in for an SRS light (possibly due to seatbelt sensor malfunction) and my thermostat was going over the red. I think it needs new struts soon and the malfunction indicator lamp was supposedly fixed by an outside mechanic but still pops up every now and then.
