im wiritng an essay about woman image in the media, including jenny saville and schiele any idea on what more i could write ? ? if any one is kind enough to read it for me?
Jenny Saville is most definitely a strong-minded feminist and her images attempt to challenge our modern perception of beauty. She is determined to tell her own truth, as we are fed lies from the media. It is no coincidence that she has developed these photographs and paintings, whilst the media is focusing more and more on size 0 women who are airbrushed to look ‘perfect’. Her play on perception lets you believe that the bodies infront of you are enormous, sending out a strong politcal message which is remarkable for an artist of her age. The colours are strong, inviting you to look at this vibrant flesh that is spilling out of the canvas, but on the other hand the image is intimidating. This woman knows her imperfections and is not ashamed. She is pulling her fat out at you, forcing you to look at it and daring you not to like it.
