I have had acid reflux for about 2 years now I think.

I was on Zegerid and that was the best stuff ever. My new insurance does not cover it so I am currently on Prilosec OTC 2x per day and I am afraid the effectiveness is wearing off.

I am starting to get that feeling again in my back that aches, the uncomfortable chest feeling and the breathlessness really bugs me at times. I have cut myself down to eating the bare minimum most days here lately and if I deviate from that, I really pay for it like today. My ears and head feel "full" at times too and swallowing bugs me too and have a sore throat some mornings when I wake up and at night too.

I am going to have to pay for the Zegerid I guess. My insurance will not cover the reflux surgery unless I have Barretts Esophagus so that is out too.

Anyone else go through and have the same symptoms as this? What are you doing to ease it? I feel like I am going crazy. I have anxiety too so that makes it worse.

I am having a sleep study on Monday - I think acid may be coming up on me at night too. I have gingivitis that wont go away. I also have a dentist appt Monday as well. He told me that acid reflux can mess with your gums too.

I'm lost right now and can't get out of this hell hole I am in....:(
 
You could try taking an OTC H2 blocker (Zantac 150 or the Costco brand generic) twice a day with your Prilosec.

It works in a different way, so the effects are addative. Might be worth a try?
 
Just a quick note. Zegerid is going OTC very shortly . I already saw an ad for it in the Walgreen circular today. If it is like previous PPI's going OTC, it will be in a lower dose , that you could always take two at a time. Prevacid OTC is 15mg although the usual prescription dose is 30 mg. Greg
