Help a new guy choose a phone =)

Hey guys. Like the title says, I'm a new guy and looking for a new phone. I've only had one cell phone (Sanyo SCP-4700) and after about 4years it's finally crapping out on me. So I'm in the market for a new phone. Here's what I'm looking for and you let me know if something like this exists. I'm sticking with Sprint so any phone that works under their plan. I'm located in Orlando, Florida so this will be primarily be used between Central and South Florida. I'm probably going to extend my contract so any phone where I can get a huge rebate due to the extension would be great. However, I'll most definitely entertain just picking up a phone online, eBay, etc. if it really kicks butt. I need something to really last atleast as long as my Sanyo to make the price worth it if its expensive.

(BTW - anybody have a link to unlocked phones? do they work under any provider).

My main features I'm looking for are speakerphone, color screen, and small to middle size. I'll be keeping this in my backpack most of the time so size isn't really important but I don't want a huge bulge when I carry it in my shorts/jeans. Long battery life. I don't talk on the phone for immense times but I would just like to leave the phone in my bag for days on end w/o recharging if need be. FM radio would be nice. Camera would also be nice but only if the pictures look fairly good. No point in crappy looking pictures where you can't tell anything apart.

MP3s/videos aren't necessary because I've got an ipod. I would like to synch it up w/ my computer and download mp3 ringtones though. I defintely want a "cool" factor. I was thinking Ericsson k750i but I don't know if that'll work under Sprint. I'm open to any suggestions. Sorry this is so long but I just want to get as much detail in as possible. Thanks a lot guys for any help you can pass along. Really appreciate it!

P.S. - Also if you can post/PM some sites w/ reg. cell phone deals. I frequent SD and FW but I don't know if thats where the phone deals reguarly pop up.

edit: Just thought of this. It would be absolutely amazing if whatever found I get has enough memory space (atleast 256mb) and some sort of 3rd party adapter that would allow me to connect it via USB to a computer and use it as a jump drive. I may just be dreaming. But help me out if possible. Thanks!

Your best bet is to just stick with buying a phone from sprint, most of the unlocked phones on ebay are GSM phones that won't work with your provider. There are some CDMA phones from Korea, but I don't know if Sprint will activate them for you.

For a barebones, color screen and speakerphone phone, there's the Sanyo SCP-200

http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=697

or the Nokia 6015i

http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=514

You can step up to a phone with an external display and look at the Sanyo VI-2300

http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=732

There's also the Samsung VI-A820 (though the site doesn't list standby times)

If you want a camera phone with decent quality, then you'll end up paying more and getting some of the features you aren't really looking for (like built in mp3 player, EVDO service).

Phonescoop lets you pick the carrier and see all their phones, so you may want to check that site out.

Thanks for the links. I'll check those out. Where can I find these CDMA phones from Korea? I'll google for em in the meantime but a solid link would help me out.

wireless imports used to have a bunch, but they don't seem to have any cdma phones right now so I'm not sure where you'd find them

OK. After looking around and surfin the threads, it seems I'll have to stick with what is directly offered by sprint. Considering that, what do you think of these options.

MM-7500 by Sanyo (possibly)

As you can see, I like Sanyo but I'm open to other suggestions. What do you all think? Also, if I don't get wireless web access added on to my account, would it pointless to get any of these phones and settle for some basic phone instead?

One last consideration:

-Keep in mind the same possibility of not getting web access. Also, if I increase the memory size, can I use this as a jump drive? Thanks a lot guys. Ciao!
