Help? 4runner sport v8 H4 or L4? VSC? Lock or unlock central diff?

Hey can someone please explain what setting i shoul dhave this in when driving on the road and when to change "lock or unlock" the central diff? What is this? i have no clue and the dealer told me a load of bull. Thanks.
Thanks - this has AWD so there is no 2wd
