HELP! 1994 chevy fuel pump (on the motor) 6.5L diesel?

I have a 1994 chevy 6.5L diesel van. The fuel pump located on the motor is pissing out fuel so it needs to be changed (yes it is coming from the pump itself. How do I change this? Is it just a matter of unbolting and putting the new one on or is there more to it? I had one person tell me that the motor will need to be timed after and another person told me just to take one off and put new one on and it would be good to go. Any help and asap would be apprechiated
