OK. I'm little mad, and sad, in same time. Few weeks ago, my catalytic converter was on fire, because it's old. So, I took it off, there's lot of stuff inside. I replaced it into normal pile, not catalytic converter. When I got this car in 2009 December, it was work perfectly, not lot of smoking from exhaust, then in spring/summer, it start to smoking lot, and my car sometime won't start but right now, it smoking LOT after the catalytic converter was on fire. After replace it into normal pile, I start my car, it keep quitting, it won't start, it just keep quitting. I even tried to rev a bit, it doesn't help at all. So, my dad came to help me, because he's good at fixing car and stuff, my car keep won't start. I recorded it from my cell phone to show you guys; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5kE8y4JZq4 ;

Anyone know why is that??? I even checked with my engine oil, it's fine. Even my battery is full. Everything fine in my under hood. But why is the smoking come out too much and it won't start? PLEASE HELP ME. I really don't want to lose this car, it's my first car, I totally love it.

Hi A.S, nice video. The smoke is normal, at high RPM, its normal for engine to spit that kind is WHITE smoke.
Another thing, I suspect the O2 sensor is defective. When ECM won't get signal from O2, it makes rich mixture. This cause more fuel conception and more carbon deposit in the converter. Eventually unburned fuel deposit in the converter will bum. This rich mixture also lead to starting trouble due to engine flooding with excess fuel.

Catalytic converter is there for a reason and back pressure is one. Another is absorption of gases. If the O2 sensor does not read correctly it can make the veh die or cut off. If ti thinks its running to rich becasue the catalytic converter is not there then it will make it run to lean.

Now the other question is what color is the smoke? If its black then you have fuel issues, meaning to much and that could have been the reason the converter caught fire. Can also cause fouling of the spark plugs which can lead to veh not running right or not at all.

If the smoke is blue then its an issue with oil getting to the top of the cylinder of which can also foul a spark plug.

Sorry cant tell if blue or black from video.
