Help! 03 Honda Accord V6 fault code P2138, cylinders not firing...?

My 03 Honda Accord V6 was purchased new, routinely cared for by yours truly.

Now with 79000 miles, I came upon a new problem.

Yesterday, two or four cylinders ceased while driving. After it happened, the TCS lamp came on, so did the engine check light.

After I parked and restart the car, all cylinders did fire up again, but engine check light's still on.

This morning, not want to jeopardize encountering this problem on my morning commute, I took it to a family mechanic. Prior to getting there, the engine check light went out! The trip was about 50 miles total after the initial engine light came on.

Since I'm there already, I asked the the mechanic to check it out. He used a diagnostic tool to read the fault codes: P 2138, but his diagnostic tool is not up to date, and it does not tell him exactly what that fault code is referring to.

Is this something related to dirty spark plugs? Does anyone know what the code is refering to?

I'd like to get this problem taken care of the cheapest way possible. If it's something I can do, I'd like to fix it myself.

Your advice and help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
How do I check each plug for spark? Do I need a special tool for that?
