Helmet in Tour Pack

I had the same issue, thought I had a good fix when I bought and installed the tour pak organizer that mounts under the lid of the pak, problem was the tape that is supposed to hold the organizer in place only lasted about 4 weeks... lol

Placing a felt pad on the bolt head is good advice, silicone, or some type of vinyl cap would work too, or perhaps I should just leave one of the helmet bags in the tour pack. Thanks for the advice.

I lightly sanded the scratches on the helmet (white) with 600 grit automotive sandpaper and tried several paint options. The manufacturer's customer service would not provide a paint code, but did recommend using finger nail polish (which color would have been a crap shoot).

My bike is white, but the HD white touch-up paint was too yellow. Then I tried White Out and that was too silver. Then I used One Shot which was the closest color match. I sanded that out flat and then polished with Flitz. Now I can see only one small defect the size of a grain of sand.

Lesson learned.

In this same vein, I also advise against putting a 12 pack of Coors cans in your saddlebag (unless it is the boxed 12 pack).

The thin gauge aluminum cans don't handle the vibration very well, and at the end or your trip you will not only have a saddlebag that smells like a brewery, you will be thirsty as well.

thanks for warning. Here we always wear our helmet so we only use the TP to store them on parking.
We also use helmet bag for those expensive helmets (Arai SZ for her and Ruby for me)

I bought one of the Stars & Stripes lid liners from: touringexpressions.com a few years ago, the site doesn't appear to be up so I'm not sure if it's still in business but it covers all of the bolts without taking up much room like the lid organizer does

I just added a tourpack to my FLHX and have been putting my helmets in there. Never thought of this being a possibility! Thank goodness for HD Forums you guys saved me some hassle!

Im going to look for some plastic or rubber caps that will snap on the head of the bolts to protect it.
