Hello World: I need help hooking up my alpine radio to my 202 ford taurus.?

please be very detailed when answering please!!! I can only get sound when I hook speakers up directly. If I try and use the speaker wires from dash there is no sound. meaning i go directly from the radio to the speaker itself through the trunk. I heard that fords cars have an amp in the trunk somewhere..what can be wrong? can someone give me a step by step tutorial maybe, or any help would be good.. thank you in advance. the radio is a Alpine CDE-102
