Hello, Please help with Mysterious Diagnosis

Hello,

Within the past 3-4 months I have been having medical issues of all sorts. H. Pylori confirmed, minimal GERD, Off-balance feeling with slight headaches (especially when I walk), malaise, and the starting point of it all: Pain in my right side, rib area which sometimes spreads across to my left rib area. Is there something messed up with my immune system? It seems like my defenses are down.

Tests I've Done: Chest X-Ray, Chest CT w/ Contrast, 2 Abdominal Sonograms, An ultrasound of the testes, a HIDA scan, an HIV test, and various blood tests. Only an MRI remains, but doctors don't want to refer me.

Supposedly, it's not pleurodynia, chostochondritis, or gall bladder problems. Pulmonologist says my chest is fine. Since the starting point was the ribs area, what else can one experience around there? It may just be muscle or tissue-related, but how would I go about treating that?

I really need some help.

Hello,
The off balance, headache and feelings of malaise may have it's roots in a Vitamin B12 deficiency. Just putting that thought out there.

You also mentioned having GERD and h. pylori. GERD can cause severe pain and can feel as if it radiates out from the sternum, maybe causing those feelings of discomfort in your chest. The h. pylori I assume you've had a course of antibiotics to clear this up. You might also want to investigate if there is a hiatal hernia. I know from experience how painful that is. Also, with your digestive issues, you might have a hard time absorbing nutrients so that brings me back to B12 deficiency.

Feel like I'm rambling, but wanted to respond to your post.
Hope your feeling better,
J.

I have no problem with rambling. Any help is appreciated. My GERD however is very minimal. The thing is that doctors ask me where I am feeling "pain". Then the areas hurt, but not to the touch. I still think it can be something muscoskeletal. Ibuprofen 600mg and Aspirin 325 mg, and Acetominaphen didn't help.

The first time I noticed the pain was after I was working out. I was jogging and I guess I either breathed in too quickly, or I drank water too quickly while jogging. When the regular muscle soreness didn't leav after 2 days, I knew I had a problem. How can I have a muscle strain or something for 5 months?

I need help.

That's a lot of NSAIDs (Advil/Ibuprophen, Tylenol/Acet) to be taking, especially if you have H.pylori and GERD .. I would seriously lay off those pills for a long time, they cause ulcers in healthy individuals all the time.

If you pulled a tendon, bruised a rib, or tore a ligament somewhere in your chest or rib cage that can take a long time to heal, months, however if you feel as though the pain is more internal, I would start thinking that you may have a duodenal ulcer. You already know you have H.pylori in your gut, so I assume you have had, or have now, a stomache ulcer, peptic ulcer, or duodenal ulcer.

Where you treated for an ulcer? Did you finish the medication? Does the pain change upon eating? sleeping? laying? Is it worse when you are anxious? angry?

Lotta variables.

My GI did the endoscopy even checking the duodenum and found no ulcers. The aspirin I took was enteric aspirin. I've been off the ibuprofen for about 2 months. I took the 14-day H.Pylori regiment and will find out on Monday if it actually worked or not.
