Hello--have an older car, Saturn...and have had a scrrrecching sound, like a banshee...?

...and I only hear the sound when the car has been not in use for a few hours, and the weather is wet or damp, and when I start it up, drive a short distance, and apply the brakes (that is when the sound occurs-impressive sound).The sound will happen once or twice more when I apply the brakes, and then goes away for the rest of the day. Brakes not that old..but car has 200 thousand miles on it....have recently done things like replace belts...tensioner...struts...still, must be brakes, right? Shoes, socks, liederhosen need to be replaced? Any thoughts/? Thanks...
