Please don't diss the foodbanter newbies before they start reposting

I killfile @foodbanter.com but I see the replies. This may be the first
intelligent introduction I have ever seen from anyone there, so in this case
I'll withhold judgement and suggest reserving hostility for those who
deserve it.

Doesn't mean I'm taking the domain out of the killfile though.

I got the same kind of 'introduction' from people here when I first
started posting to this group.
I stuck around though ;-)

I KF foodbanter too. One of the reasons I did that was that the group
would occasionally get several hello I am new to this group messages,
all from foodbanter addresses.

Good for you!

That's common on Usenet in spite of the recommended etiquette to lurk until
familiar, then introduce. Seems that following the protocol is no guarantee
of acceptance. Some folks automatically presume any new poster is a troll,
spammer or malicious sockpuppet, even when there's no evidence of it. So in
a new forum I lurk a bit, then just start posting.
