Hi Kezzo,
I had my second fusion in Sept 2006. I was fully fused at 6 months post op. I continue to have problems, but pain-free was never the goal, not even on the radar. My doctor and I knew I would still have problems. I have a very unusual spine. He's very experienced and has never seen another spine like mine. I have to say that I really am thrilled at the result of my surgery, even though I still hurt all the time. It was a good decision!
I walked inside, due to some low blood pressure issues that made me have to use a walker for 6 weeks after surgery. I was prone to passing out, so for my own safety, they made me use it. I walked back and forth in my bedroom or up and down the hallway. It got boring, but I'd put in a movie to keep my mind off my pain and my boredom. I didn't let myself stop until I got truly tired or started hurting more. I was determined to do everything within my own power to help that fusion get going!
Let us know if you have other questions. We're just full of advice (mostly good!
) and love to help others as we're able. And please let us know how you're doing!
Take care,
Emily
