Hi, i'm new to these boards and i have a question relating to height and growth.
I'm currently a male, 17 years of age, and i'm only 5'2.5". i've always been rather small, and was diagnosed with Constitutional Growth Delay by an endocronologist visit when i was 12. My dad is about 5' 11" and my mom is 5' 3". No one in my family is of short stature, in fact on both sides of my extended family the guys are atleast above 5'9", most are above 6'. The endo decided to give me monthly injections of testosterone for about 3 months to bump me into puberty. When i was 13 i begin to hit puberty, so i stopped getting the shots. Now im sexually developed, and i'm showing lots of the secondary sexual charactersics, such as facial hair, body hair, acne, etc. However I still have the body and bone structure of a kid. in fact i only weight 106 IB's. I'm wondering if its still possible for me to attain a growth spurt, or atleast reach a decent height of about 5'6". I'm worried the testosterone shots may have accelerated by bone plate closure and stopped me from reaching my genetic potential for height.

Much thanks to all who read this and give advice.

I learned in my human development course in college that while females generally finish their growth spurt by sixteen or seventeen years of age males can keep growing well into college, early twenties. Perhaps another visit to your endocrinologist is called for to get another work up. Good luck.

thanks, that helps me to feel a little better, just dont see how everyone in my family can be so tall except me, when i had blood tests done and all that came up was constitutional growth delay (late bloomer)

Paul,

Hey sweetie... Let me assure you that you are just perfect. Each of us are absolutely and completely unique. There is no "right" or "wrong" combination of parts that make up a perfect human being. No perfect weight, height, measurement or "look". It is actually each person's journey through life that determines perfection. And trust me, the longer you journey, the more the criteria becomes simplified. Perfect becomes imperfect.

Love yourself, your family and your neighborhood. Focus on your dreams, your values and your goals. Lay the foundation for a strong bond with things and people the really matter.

Take your time to grow into all the things that manhood requires, it's a lifetime achievement. Be brave, it's great practice!

Best to you...
