It could be. I have multiple back problems and sciatic pain in both legs. Once last fall, I felt the pain in my left heel as well as the bottom of arch of my foot, which lasted about a week and then went away. I could barely walk. I was told that the sciatic nerve was the culprit. Look up Sciatic Nerve and you can find pictures and diagrams of where it runs through your body. It goes down your spine and then separates at your lower back, and goes down both legs and into the feet. When irritated or compressed, it will cause absolutely dreadful pain!
Also, when my symptoms first began last May, I would have never guessed that my lower back was the culprit. I had sharp and burning pain in my left groin. I thought I had a pesky knot. It was only in that spot for a couple of months, and then in rapidly spread all over the bottom half of my body. I now feel pain across my lower back, into my buttocks on both sides, both groin areas, and down both legs and into both feet. I also get nurabness and pins and needles in my legs and feet.
Good luck and I hope you find some answers!
