I went to the local t-mobile store and inquired about getting 2 blackberry pearls. the price is $199 at the store each and $50 mail-in rebate for each. so it ends up about $300 total. He told me if I could find a major retailer (ex: best buy, circuit city, etc..) who has the phone cheaper that he will match the price and include the rebates. does anyone know of a major chain who sells this phone for cheaper? your help is greatly appreciated!!!

yeah CompUSA, but they don't (at least in my area) consider Amazon or the other internet sites good enough to match since they aren't in the market physically.

I would just order the service via letstalk.com. They are pretty good with prices (I think it's free right now), and usually get the phones within 3 days from when you order it.

When I ordered my 8700 it was a from a 3rd party website, the phone is cheap and you of course have to sign a 2 year contract. The gimmick is that if you cancel your contract within the first 6-12 months, not only do you owe the service provider for the early termination fee, but the 3rd party reserves the right to charge you outrageous amounts as well. So it's a great deal if you're sure you'll be ok with keeping the service. Of course, they all do have trial periods, usually 14 days.

And from my experience, most providers will match prices of online sales for the same phone. Especially if you're really nice. Even if you have to play into their sales gimmicks a bit. Sure, sign up for that extra messaging plan or the higher rate plan, let the salesperson get their credit for the sale, then once you leave the store, you can always call customer service and change it. Good luck.

The other risk with the online retailers is that the phones could be refurbished and are not always brand spankin' new. The retailers get paid on shear volume and don't care where they buy phones from the lower they pay the better.

I would suggest just sucking it up and paying the price in the store. You will get better customer service in the long run. The reason i say that is...... If you have a problem and you go back to the store. Normally, they will ask you where you bought the phone. When you tell them that you got it from an online retailer they are going to know that you made $100 on the deal or something ridiculous like that and the reps are less likely to helpful and be cordial.............. Isn't that their job to help you? Yes, but they will do everything in their power to pawn you off on customer care since they know that they or no one they know got that sale.

Put yourself in their shoes. If everyday at work someone came up to you and told you that the price your product sells for is not worth it and that it should be given out for free (aka you make very little money) you would become bitter and begin to treat those who are willing to pay the money differently than those who want the best phones but they don't want to pay for it (and a lot of times won't know how to use it).

All I'm saying is..... Yes it sucks that you are paying $300 for 2 phones but that sales person will be grateful for not arguing with you for 2 hours over price and they will hopefully remember you and build a good rapport, kinda like Cheers but cell phones. If you need anything else they should be more thatn happy to bend over backwards because they know that that is their customer specifically and if you deactivate they personally lose money.

This was not meant to be a rant, but advice from the view point of the sales person. The person who is not trying to make an extra buck off of you but gets paid because you spend money in their store.
