Heavy Breather

I recently installed a heavy breather on my 2009 FLHX. At the time of instalation I wasn't sure of my throttle body size, so I left out the adapter made for the 50mm. Now I realize that I do infact have a 50mm and should have installed this plastic adapter. My bike has been running fine without this piece installed, but I am wondering what are the negative effects of not having this adapter installed.

Not sure, but it may allow unfiltered air into the engine. I would install it.

I can only think that by not having the adapter installed it is allowing some air to escape-Does this sound logical to anyone else?
