Heart problems or GERD?

Hi, I'm 16 years old and a male. I am about 100 pounds overweight, but have a large body frame. I have GERD, that has gone untreated for about 3 years. So I'm wondering, is it my weight causing my problems or my GERD? Am I in a dangerous position to have these heart issues or are they not really heart issues.

Let me say what happens, sometimes when I try to sleep, I feel like I'm slipping into unconsciousness, and it feels like my heart skips or stops and then starts again. Totally crazy I know, but it's keeping me awake and scared and I don't know what to do.

I've started eating healthier and exercising, but I'm worried it's too late.

I'm really scared guys, any help would be appreciated!

I think I do have a deviated septum. I have to wear those breath right things to sleep. But this happens when I'm not asleep, and when I'm breathing through my mouth getting a perfectly normal amount of oxygen.

Have you seen a doctor about this? Taking anything for the GERD? I've found that Pepcid AC (generic brand is less expensive) has helped with my GERD.
Also, are you snacking before bed? If I eat junk (esp spicy) before bed, I wake up with indigestion and burping up the taste of whatever I ate the night before.
It's nasty. I think you are awful young for heart problems but you never know when there could be a defect that has not been found before. Get your Mom to make you a doctor appt. That's the only way of really finding out for sure what your problem is, although I'm betting on the Gerd.

Best wishes,

JB
