Hi,

The past few days i have been VERY sick and have started to encounter a problem with my eyesight. I am constantly seeing white dots and when i try to focus on something the dots group together and turn black. I went to EMERG today and the doctor said it could be floaters but did not really seem like he knew what he was talking about at all. Does anyone else know what it may be?

Thank you

Mathew

When you say very sick, exactly how so? Do you have the flu or is it something more severe?

It could be floaters, but if they are obstructing your vision, it's time to do something about it. I would call an eye doctor (make sure it's an actual opthamologist, not just an eyeglass dispenser) first thing in the morning. They can look inside your eyes and see if anything is wrong there. If nothing is wrong with your eye, then maybe a neurologist.

By "white spots" do you mean bright flashes of light? That could be a sign of retinal problems.

If you have bad headache and nausea, it might possibly be a migraine. Those can cause visual weirdness.

if your not satisfied with the doctor's opinion. have it check to other doctor it's better to have a second opinion regarding your condition. so that you won't worry to much about your health.

It would be a good idea to see an opthamologist about your vision. A lot of times the eye doctor can tell by your eyesight if there is a medical condition and refer you to a doctor if necessary.

Otherwise it is very possible a problem with your eyesight can cause you to feel bad physically, so I would check that out first.
