Healing from Hernia Repair

I had surgery to correct two inguinal hernias this past November. While I'm pretty much back to my normal self, I still notice that occasionally I feel tenderness if I press on the area, and I still have a numb area. This isn't severe or causing any trouble, but I just wanted to ask others who had similar surgeries if this is normal. Does it typically take longer than 6 months to feel completely back to normal? I typically only notice slight pain if one of my small dogs jumps in my lap on the spots or if my husband tickles my stomach or something. I only notice the numb area while shaving my bikini line. I still have some scar tissue, what they call the "healing ridge," a ridge along the incision area. It's much, much smaller than it was during the month of surgery. I'm hoping the scars will fade more with time too! They're still a little pinkish, but I notice that they have started lightening up in some spots.

My surgery didn't use any mesh and the traditional method, not laporascopic, was used. I'm just hoping the slight pains doesn't mean that there is tension on the sewn up tissue that is pulling. These hernias were not caused by anything I did personally and were ones I was born with. I work out, but I don't lift heavy weights.
