Headache, Tired and not feeling well (strep)

My son is 12 and for several days he has complained of a headache and just not feeling well. When we took him to the Dr. all strep tests came up negative (we checked because his younger brother had tested positive for strep 2 days before). So we thought (the Dr. thought) it might be just sinus blockage. For the next two days the headache seemed to get slightly worse and he grew more and more tired. This time the pain was from the right eyebrow (very painful when you press it) up to the top right side of his head. From the right eyebrow to the beginning of his hairline is what feels like a swollen artery or blood vessel (it's like a two inch long tube (1/32 of an inch wide) that is slightly swollen (you can't see it bulging out his head but you can feel that it is there if you run your finger over it). We finally took him for a blood test to rule out things like mono, lymes, rocky muontain spotted fever and these all came back negative. We had him checked for Strep again and this time it was positive. The Dr. started him on amoxicilin and 2 days into the dosage he started feeling better and eventually went out to play. Then he started down hill again (slight headache and back to being tired again - sleeping all day). We then changed the med to cefdinir 300 mg and that's where we are now. Could his sinus be leaking into his brain or something of that nature? What could that swollen vessel coming from his right sinus (eyebrow) indicate? Thanks for any help you can provide.
