I have the blue tooth chatterbox, and it's an awesome unit. No kidding! I've only got a few hundred miles into mine, since only one of my friends has one.....but seriously, I plug my I pod into the audio in (I control my ipod with an rf remote mounted to my front brake master cylinder), my phone is paired to it, it's simple to attach and route the speakers and mic.
Also, it's super easy (less than 1 minute) to remove the whole deal from my helmet if I choose to. Answer calls, music is cut off when a call comes in, or when you're communicating with someone. Definitely useless with voice activation...you can get close to "ok" results with vox, but it's a hassle.....and too often one rider's mic stays on. In that scenario, everyone else is blocked since you can only receive or transmit (not both). Full duplex will work for a passenger and the pilot in a two up scenario. But it's a one way street for bike to bike.
Range was incredible. Sure they say 5 miles...but hey, if I can talk to my partner a mile away in canyons....then it's a good unit. "It's a good unit". The one drawback for me is, if you want to talk....you have to hit a button on your helmet, or use the remote "push to talk button". It's not a big deal. But, If the unit was full duplex, all the time.....you'd never have to hit any PTT button. That's my 4 cents.
