toyota is my fave to work on,i have my self replaced a few head gaskets.if your truck is running ok and not skipping you don't need to worry about replacing the valve gaskets or the really called valve seats.any way ,on thing to keep in mind is to make sure you got the car on top dead center Befro you start or with the timing marks up.when you tack the valve cover off to get to the head you will see the timing chane.you have to tack the big bolt off the gear to get thew head off.so do that first Befro you start to tack the head bolts off.and use a peace of wire to hold it up but if it was me i would just talk it off.toyota are none for the timing chane guide to wear out they don't cost much might think about replacing the guides.any way tack all the head bolds off then tack it off the head.lay it to the side and clean it up really good .then just replace the gasket.then put the head back on.making sure you tighten them to the tor they supposed to be.when you start it up if the timing is off you can break a valve or it will run bad. the Tools would be basic ones and a tor wrench.the oil pump is on the front of the timing chane cover make sure you don't tack any bolts out off it.or its gonna leak and you will be replacing it soon.....good luck and i no i might not have explained stuff to good so feel free to ask me any thing
