I made the terrible, unforgivable mistake of cheating on my husband. He is in jail, and a combination of loneliness, depression, and heavy drinking led me to sleep with an ex-boyfriend. It was a one-night thing, and I immediately regretted it. I confessed it to my husband, and he has since forgiven me. However, he says that he wants a divorce. We are very young *(22 and 23). He told me he made plans to leave the state and live with his mom, but when I talked to her, she hasn't spoken to him in months. My question is, does this sound like his cruel way of controlling me while he is in jail? By keeping me begging for his mercy? Or do you think he genuinely wants divorce? He says he still loves me and wants me to keep writing and visiting. He blows me kisses. I'm so confused. Any advice would help. thank you.

Let him have the divorce. I know that you made a mistake, as a lot of people do, but obviously your infidelity shows that maybe your husband isn't the right one for you. It does sound that he is controlling you from the inside of a prison cell. Get out while you can. Let him go, stop visiting, and stop calling.
