I just got my coupons for HDTV converter boxes (I use an antenna, and I'll need to get one converter for the living room and one for the bedroom), and started to check out what's available on online. There's not much of a selection, from what I've seen. Anyway, I have to use my coupons within 90 days, and I want to be sure I get it right the first time because I really can't afford to buy the first two, never mind two more because I messed up. I have a question that I haven't seen addressed anywhere, and I'm hoping that someone here has the answer.
I often tape programs on my VCR to watch at a later time. My question is, does channel tuning take place on the converter box, or can I simply hook up the converter box to my VCR and tape as usual, using the tuner in the VCR?
Also, I can currently tape one channel and watch another but, after I hook the box up, if my setup is converter box to VCR to TV (as I have the antenna connection now), will I still be able to watch a different channel than the one I'm taping?
