Honestly I wouldn't blame them.

Me either. That day is going to be a mess for them(and for you guys here). Everyone is going to be scrambling to trade and sell since it's only open for one day. I don't think this is the smartest move on their part. But, they're trying I guess...

Bottom line is the site doesn't want people inside the community to break the rules. If they don't follow the rules they will not have any invite privileges. It may never happen which is something people have to deal with.

And the only way to deal with it is to start a site just like it and have people learn how to cap TV, encode properly, buy their own Bluray disks and upload them.

yes that is the bottom line, but disabling invites forever (even worse, announcing that they will open them and then reneging) is a self-righteous and egotistical solution which in the end fails to achieve the bottom line, and arguably exacerbates the problem.

there are currently traders and sellers inside the site already. the only way to deal with it justly is like all the other sites deal with it: ban the rule breakers but don't penalize the good members and good would-be members.

Most private vendors use generic aluminum in the production of their protective headgear devices, but we only use the highest quality government grade aluminum alloy, which is sold to us under the table by the Chinese manufacturers. I'm not a physicist, but studies indicate that the government grade aluminum is the only one with a sufficient number neutrons to withstand the high powered phishing attempts coming out of Nigeria.

Good news, everyone - 16/12/09
Invites have been closed for quite a while now, and we figure there are probably some good users out there somewhere who would like an account.
As such,we are going to allow sending of invites all day on the 21st of December (next monday).
To accompany this special occasion, there will be a free leech (no download counted) for the entire week beginning on the 21st and ending at the close of the 27th.
Merry December,
HDBits

I'm just wondering where all you potential members of HDBits were a year ago when invites were easy to obtain, are all of you completely new to torrenting or what?

I'm LMAO @ anyone who couldn't see that coming :)

It's not the first time they've announced that they'll open invites, then cancel supposedly because of all the sellers and traders. So, what kind of morons would they have to be to try it again thinking the same thing wouldn't happen, especially after they announce it several days in advance?

The funniest part about the whole thing is that what they're doing just pisses off the normal members who would be interested in joining who would be assets to the site, and it drives the site's "value" that much higher with the trading and selling crowd.

My opinion: It was all nothing more than a ploy to try to get their site bumped up to level 10.

HDBits' reaction of eleminating the idea of issuing invites was a good and bad thing. Good, cause the site will continue to be free of traders, bad cause many legitimate users who wanted to get into the site are now stranded. IMO hdbits should organise something about the invites for this chirstmas and give invites, to their most trusted users i.e based on user classes. Cause it is totally unfair that those who really do want to be part of that community, to be shut out from it due to the actions of a few traders. Please try to help those who really want to be part of the site..it's sure to be a really good christmas gift :)
