HD PVR component cables not working?

i got my hauppauge hd pvr about 3 days ago. im trying to set it up for my xbox 360. i plug in the xbox's component cables in the "in" section and plug the other component cables in the "out" section and the other end into my tv. My screen on bothe the capture software and my tv are black. My tv says no signal. its turned on, the usb is plugged in. I dont know why its doing this. help
