Having anal sex at Prom?

I am 24 year old male and I have never done anal. I know weird hu? My boo wants to try it at her JR Prom. I am just confused on how it should be done...ie...I dont want to freak her out and lather myself in lube but I dont want to hurt her. I asked my dad and he said I should just start slow, your thoughts??
