HAving a PLIF but new symptoms and confused!!! Need help

I have a herniated disc at l5-s1 and annular tear at the same level. I am scheduled for a PLIF with endoscopy and microscope.. Less invasive which is good.. Here in the last week the burning and electric shocks feeling is in my left buttocks and into my foot wheres its always been.. The electric shock sensations has gotten worse as i expected, but while sitting and at night when lying down the symptoms get really bad.. When they get going at their worse the sensations run up my back on the left side but go up into my arms and shoulders which has never happened.. The cervical MRi I had recently showed no issues.. The MRI on the lurabar was 4 weeks ago and only showed DDC at T12, L1-L2 and L4-L5 facet hypertrophy with minimal lagamentum flavum thickening. These the neurosurgeon said was standard in a 37yr old person.. I know Im not insane, but its really annoying and hurts somewhat.. Has anyone had this problem or maybe know whats wrong.. Im hoping the PLIF will alleviate all of this but Im curious whats going on now.. The l5-s1 herniation and annular tear was also on the recent MRI.. Just wanted to clarify that

The best suggestion I can make is to be sure to mention these new symptoms to your surgeon before the surgery!! I've had three lurabar surgeries, including major reconstructive surgery and two PLIFs, and have never experienced what you are describing (the pain running up into your shoulders and arms.) As far as I know, it would be unusual to have pain running upward from the point of the "pain generator." Since you just had a MRI of the cervical spine, I can't think of something that would be causing tingling or electrical feelings in your shoulders and arms....

Hopefully someone will read your post and be able to identify with your description...but if this is happening frequently, please call your surgeon now so that there will be time for further testing if she/he deems it necessary.
