having a baby in gap year before uni (studying midwifery)?

This is just me sort of 'researching' for the future.
I took a year off from school at the very start of this year after loosing my best friend in 09, and as a result i missed year 11. I'm going back (through TAFE), next year to both year 11 and 12 as i plan on going to uni to be a midwife. :)

I hope the following isnt too confusing.
My partner and I have both always loved children. We want to start a family straight away when I finish my year 12, and I was going to take a gap year before going to uni. If i fell pregnant at the end of year 12 (2012) would one gap year be enough to care and raise my child before going to uni in 2014?
(My boyfriend has a good, stable job that could support us, and we are moving into my family's 'holiday' house)

As i said this is me researching so any nursing students' opinions would be quite helpful :)
I heard from my aunt (an RN) that nursing students can choose between 6 months or 1 year *during* their studies to take time off to care for their children. But i really don't want to do this, I'm already a year behind my friends and after a crappy year I'm really just looking forward to starting my life again.
