Have you heard of restaurants where you have to cook your own food?

There is a name for that style of dining (can't think of it). Mostly it is in Korean type restaurants where there are cook areas in the middle of each dining table. You order the food you want and part of the experience is supposed to be cooking it at your table. I agree with you though....when I go out to eat I don't want to have to cook it myself. I go out to get away from cooking for one night!

Well, obviously there is no point for you.

Korean barbecues are like that and they are super-popular among Koreans and expats who enjoy multicultural experiences (and meat).

You get to cook the meat exactly the way you want it and prepare your plate exactly the way you want it. Do you enjoy fajitas? Technically, you need to assemble your own. Galbi and ssamgyapsal are like that, too. You decide what you want. A lot of meat? A little meat? A lot of sauce? No sauce? Do you want the garlic and pepper cooked or raw? Do you want to leave it out? Do you want to grill the kimchi or not? Do you want to grill the kimchi above the meat, so it flavors the meat, or below the meat so it is flavored by the meat.

It's a social event. If the only reason that you go out is that you're feeling lazy and don't want to do any work, then obviously you wouldn't go out for Korean barbecue. But if you like to go out to have fun with your friends and eat delicious food, then why not?

Korean bbq's are like that - you go through a line and pick out what you want, then go back to your table where there is a mini-grill on it to cook the food. It's pretty cool - at least you don't have to do all the slicing and dicing and clean-up, right?? lol!

Yes.
I totally understand where you're coming from!
My husband and I were out eating somewhere and it was our time to relax right? So we're just like, " Um, anything relaxing." So they bring us out this plate with stuff on it and we're supposed to cook our own steak! That was so lame! But I understand you:)
