Have you ever sold a bike to a scrap yard/salvage yard?

There's a motorcycle salvage yard near me, and I'm wondering how much money the would usually pay for a completely rideable, mid 1990s motorcycle? I'm guessing around 500, maybe negotiable up to 650$? I'm current trying to sell my bike privately for $1000

well honestly 500 is better than having this bike sit around in my garage. I was contemplating having it take a short ride off a pier!!
