I've been thinking about reading it, but my Step mom sad she didn't think i'd like it because it's so sad. I kind want to read though and think it will be a good informative book about history. Thanks in advance for any input.

I've read the first half of it. actually it was in my grandma's house and bored with noting to do during the vacations, I took it and started reading it. It was amazing! the trials and tribulations of the mcCourt family. How the little kids die, how they left the U.S and everything! I loved it!

I haven't read it. but you may like it!! reading books is subjective you may like it someone else may not. don't get me wrong- it's good to take recommendations and stuff but seriously if you wanna read it, you go girl! :)

Hey there, i had to read that book last year for school. I was 16 and really liked it. It started out quite slow and i wasn't entirely sure that i would enjoy it, but then it picked up and i'm glad i read it. As you said it is indeed quite informative historically and it is told from a boy's perspective as he grows up. It is also informative of family dynamics at that time in Dublin and how really life was such a struggle, i think it was an eye opener for me and i would say read it, if you you don't like it, you can always put it down and try again at a later stage but hey go for it.
