Have you ever decided to go to a college based on admiration for a professor's work?

For example, let's say you read "The Armchair Economist" by Steven Landsburg and loved it. He teaches at the University of Rochester. Would you apply to the school to take economics classes with him? Is it a good idea to take classes with a professor whose work you admire? If you have done it, was it as amazing as you thought it would be?
