I got a phone call last week from a sales rep where I got my Nextel phone. He told me that I will have to upgrade phone in the near future to one of ic502 or the other phone that they have ic.... Has anyone heard about this? I tell you one thing I to pay another 200 freakin dollars for new phone with nextel i'm switching compaines. It costs way to much to upgrade your phone.

never heared of that, that rep was probably on drugs or something. It kinda happened to me when I was with AT&T. Everytime I would go to purchase an accessory, or call customer support for anything, they always wanted to switch me over to Cingular, and telling me that sonner or later I was going to be switched automatically, 3 years later I switched to nextel from AT&T, not from Cingular.

You arent forced to upgrade to anything, but if you do want a new phone, the cancellations department will usually give you IC502's for free
As for paying 200 bucks for a new phone ? If you switch companies, you pay 2-300 dollars for a new phone, sign 2-3 years of contract, pay a new deposit, as well as having to figure out a new set of rules and plans. Good luck
