Have the corporate advertisers in newspapers ordered that only bad news can be featured?

Think about it, newspapers these days have a depressing, almost suicidal tone.
Why? Because it increases the sense of hopelessness and misery.
And how can all that be made better? By buying the products that are advertised.

You're less likely to buy stuff if you are a happy, content individual. So it is in the interest of corporations to keep people miserable enough to buy things but not too miserable that they end up working less hard (for corporations).

The government does nothing because it keeps the economy growing.
And because there is no such thing as society, we all think, how can we mere individuals and families overcome this?

We decide that we can't and continue our march to the shops. I only buy my local newspaper and no other.

Here is a quotation regarding the Daily Mail from the Guardian:

"The Mail's founder, Lord Northcliffe said his winning formula was to give his readers "a daily hate" - and it does." [1]
