Have LG, Alltel Phone, will it work on Verizon?

I have a Verizon Wirelss Blackberry Pearl and it is eating a hole in my pocket each month. I do however have a LG phone I used with Alltel before the merger, can i go into a Verizon Wireless store and have them Activate the LG??? Again the LG was with Alltell, so idn if it will work so that why i am asking.
