Have any military families changed a child's name?

I'm just curious as to how to go about it. When DS was born, we still hadn't come up with a name, and the hospital wouldn't let us leave without naming him (this is prior to DH enlisting), so we came up with a name that we semi-liked but kept searching. We'll we finally found a name that fits him and we love, but he's enrolled in DEERS as his birth name. He's 13 mos old now, and we might actually have a permanent unit to settle down in and can change his name legally.

So, share with me your stories, and advice please.
