I have a 1997 ford explorer sport withe a 1996 4.0 ohv engine in it. I just had it swapped, and now the temp gauge wants to read real hot. I had it checked and the system is working properly. the temp sending unit, next to the thermostat, is different in the 97 than the 96. Should I try putting the unit from the 97 in the 96 engine and see if that works. They both have 1 wire coming off the top, but the conection is different. splice? what do I do, thanks.
