Have 24 hour 'news' stations, made Americans stupid and uninformed?

You can call me old fashioned but I think so. News is replaced by opinion, and the need for constant commentary on what might/ might not be happening RIGHT NOW.

This merely provides listeners with sound bites.

Complex ideas are hardly given time for the sake of sensationalizing everything.

What do you think?
Scott - complex ideas take time to absorb, that's why you would learn more from reading a book about the civil war, than watching a 2 hour Hollywood film on it. Which is what news stations have become. When was the last time any story of substance was broken? And followed up by the news media?

When you audience has short attention spans slogans and sound bites are sufficient .
