I bought this car a few months ago and the guy was completely retarded. he didn't have anything to tell me anything about the subs and amp, except that his friend did it for him. I googled jbl and it seemed pretty cheap and low end so I figured as long as I didn't get carried away it wouldn't be too hard on my alternator/battery.

A few days ago my battery died and I had to get jumped a few times before I replaced it, now I don't want it to happen again, but I'm not sure if these things were really the culprit... I thought that if you were working your system too hard it would take out the alternator, but I had the alternator checked today and they said it was fine. It's possible the battery just went bad, I guess, but I feel like I should at least ask here. I looked up the amp, today, http://reviews.cnet.com/car-amplifiers/sony-xm-1002hx-amplifier/1707-6726_7-30233752.html, and it says 230 watts x2 max output, so these subs have to be pretty friggen weak or the amp is underpowering them, right?

They shouldn't be any kind of a threat, unless the guy who wired them didn't do a good job, in which case I'm sure it would have tanked sooner, right?

Any advice you have is appreciated, obviously I don't know a lot about any of this, just a little from what I've read over time...

Thanks all =)
