El, what you preach above makes quite a bit of (intuitive) sense to me. Wish I could secure some of the PM lubricants that you have access to as I sure as heck would give it a try. Bad influence that you are, I'm debating on whether to pull the trigger on the K&P reusable billet oil filter you mentioned in another thread.

I do know this for certain - talk of oils brings out as many opinions as there are humans on the planet. Like I do with everything, I read it all and come to my own conclusion for my personal application.

Thanks for sharing!

It was stressed in tech training that ALL Ducs are to run full synthetic.
The difference is that the wet clutch motors are to run only 10-40, no heavier.

I have yet to see a clutch problem on an 848 since they came out.

Dry clutches on the other hand...

Making your own informed choices is always best IMO DD.

Having built, raced and abused many different kinds of engines over the last 30 odd years I have seen the results on inspection tear downs of various "good' oils... Many are indeed very good but none have consistently given me the long term high temp/rpm abuse protection that Hi sulphate mineral oils do.

I have had the PM in my bike since just after the 1000k service, it has not been changed and the KP filter screen is perfectly clean each time I check it with no metal particles on the magnet. My valve clearance was also still at minimum ( between .004" and .006") at 12000k service which I did myself. There were no signs of cam lobe/rocker scuffing either and the icing on the cake is the engine has less internal mechanical noise and I have not found a false neutral since using this oil either. These things are all the proof I need that it's a good product for protecting my valuable engine.
I only promote what my own personal testing and experience has proven to me works best, but I am in no way pushing my opinions onto others who feel differently.

P/s. the KP filter is an investment.... it will pay for itself in about 5 oil changes and then it is saving you money with the convenience of easy inpection for engine debris.
